New Hampshire had it's OLD MAN OF THE MOUNTAIN, which is no longer, due to the rock formation became dislodged, after years of maintaining by the state.  A most popular tourist attraction.  The last picture, from Wikipedia, was taken about a week before it collapsed.

Well. Cumming has it's own rock formation and I call it Chief Sawnee.  It is atop of Sawnee Mountain and can be reached by hiking up trails at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve on Stop Road or from a trailhead on Tribble-Gap Road.

I included an annotated copy to point out what I see in the picture.  A view from the top and a picture of the three seats (the third seat is not in view to the  right).

Do you see what I see???

This months photo project is "Unusual Patterns."  Geese flying in a V-formation is not unusual.

I need to submit three pictures and so far I have four pictures.  Your task is to let me know which of the four you would not submit, should you accept this assignment.  There are not right or wrong answers.

Yesterday was a cloudy, rainy day as we roamed around Raburn County.  The first picture is of Minnehaha Falls.  The trail to the falls is about one quarter of a mile and not a bad climb, except that today the trail was muddy.  The real story for us was that someone was going to have a wedding there, albeit, in the questionable weather.  We passed the wedding party on the way down; Justice of the Peace, musicians, wedding party and attendees.  The bride had not arrived yet and we were told that she was wearing a gown.  Can you imagine a bride, in her gown, hiking up a muddy trail for her wedding?  It reminds me of the Lexus advertisement that has be on TV recently, without the Lexus.  All I can say is the the groom knows what he is getting into before hand...

Minnehaha Falls

We stopped at some shops along the way...duh!  The next two pictures were taken at The Mark of the Potter, which is worth the stop.  Did I say that?  The trout is one of many that can be fed from the porch.  Drop of fish food (25 cents a pop) and they act like vultures.  They are humongous!  The other picture is of the rapid next to the shop, which used to be a working grinding mill.

As we traveled back to Cumming, we were treated to a rainbow, which was not as clear and sharp, but as always, beautiful.

One last picture from Destin Florida of a Coast Guard boat.  It is a Response Boat - Medium (RBM), which is 45 feet in length and cruisea at 30 knots (35 MPH) and a top speed of 42.5 knots (48.9 MPH).

We were leaving the harbor on a dolphin watch and this boat was traveling in the opposite direction, healing toward the harbor.  It was not 'cruising.'  I saw it heading toward us and I set the camera to shutter mode for an action photo.  As I focused and locked on to the boat, I panned (followed the boat with the camera in focus, the boat as I took the picture  That is why the shot is in focus and not blurred from the motion.

Out last day in Destin was cloudy with a few sprinkles of rain.  These pictures were taken from outside our room.

We stayed at the Sea Oats Motel, which is an older motel and some aging does show.  Our room had a kitchenette; Refrigerator, Microwave, Coffee Pot, Toaster, and a Stove.  It is nice to walk out the door onto a deck, down the stairs and be on the beach.

No one cleans the room or makes the beds while your are there.  If you need clean towels, you take the used ones to the office and they give you clean ones.  And it does have Wi-Fi.

September 27, 2015 b

Yesterday, we went on a Dolphin Cruise and were fortunate to see a pod of dolphins, which we close to the shore of Okaloosa Island.  These are Atlantic Bottle-Nosed Dolphins.  None came out of the water, as often is shown. They were about 75 yards off the Starboard side of the boat.  Starboard; that is Navy speak for right side...  Port is for the left side, bow for the front, and aft is for the back... I think!  Who says, "Honey, I am going to mow the aft yard today???  I am just having fun with Jim and Jean Edgerton.

Back to the dolphins.

Happy Birthday, Kristen!

We were at the Boardwalk, on Okaloosa Island just west of Destin, Fl, on Friday evening.  There were a couple of dolphins having lunch on the schools of fish.  Fish that those fishing from the Boardwalk were hoping to catch.

For me, it was the sunset the made the walk more interesting.  These are three different photos of the same scene.  If you had to choose one, which would it be?  Top, Middle, or Bottom.  You may have a better viewpoint by clicking once on a photo.
