March 8, 2015

Yesterday was a great day to get out for an all day excursion.  Apart from the Spring flowers having not blossomed at this time, it was a beautiful time.

First stop was to the English Rose Tea Room on Market Street.  I had the Dover Sole and Caramelized Pear Tea and as usual, it was wonderful as always.

Next stop was across the street to the old Union Station, which is now the Choo-Choo Hotel.  The chandelier is off the lobby and I have taken before.  Elegant.

"Pardon me boys, but is that the Chattanooga Choo-Choo...?"

Why, yes it is!

The flowers and fountains are in a state of winter... So, we hopped on the FREE trolley bus to downtown and the Riverfront.  One of the main goals was to walk across the Walnut Street Bridge, which is now a pedestrian bridge.

I could not help but notice the Sewer/Man-hole cover.  Very nice!  As far as Sewer/Man-hole covers go.

The Walnut Street Bridge was closed to traffic in 1978 and was going to be demolished, however, it was converted to a pedestrian bridge in 1993.

Off the the southside of the bridge, is the Market Street bridge, also known as the John Ross Bridge, which is a drawbridge.

This is a picture of the ironwork railing,  Great pattern.

Here is a treat, at least for me!  Oh,  you can have The Donut Sundae.

I took this picture previously a few years ago.  I erased the post that holds up the Weathervane Horse to make it look as if the horse was jumping over the building.
